Oil Painting with a Basic Palette
This is a finely illustrated book for beginners through advanced oil painters who are interested mainly in landscape painting. Even the table of contents is illustrated with photos of her paintings and short descriptions for easy access to chapters. Demos are illustrated as well, including how to use and hold brushes, preparing surfaces. The book also examines the basic tenets of painting including value, composition and design, effects of light on color. This is a useful, lovely book to read and use in landscape painting.

On a pincushion, and other fairy tales ; The necklace of Princess Fiorimonde, and other stories
Published in Unknown Binding by Garland Pub. ()
Author: Mary De Morgan
Average review score:

Haunting
In a sense, I shouldn't review this book, because I am not sure which of Mary de Morgan's collections I read 25 years ago, from a library that no longer has the book. But her stories, including "The Heart of Princess Joan," "The Hair Tree," and other original fairy tales, left a deep impression on me. Like Oscar Wilde's "The Happy Prince," these often sorrowful stories felt a little dangerous to my 11-year-old emotions, but their evocative symbolism pulled at my imagination. Now that J.K. Rowling has re-popularized fantasy, I hope someone will reprint Mary de Morgan's stories for new generations to enjoy.

On Suicide: Great Writers on the Ultimate Question
Published in Paperback by Chronicle Books (January, 1993)
Authors: John Miller, Genevieve Anderson, Genevieve Morgan, and Robert Coles
Average review score:

On Suicide- insights through Philosophy and Literature
This collection of essays, short stories, and poems all deal with the "Ultimate Question": to be, or not to be. Each philosopher, writer, or poet has contributed his or her own thoughts regarding suicide. Some of the selections are whimsical, such as a poem which discusses different ways of "doing it". Others are thought-provoking and emotional pieces, which bring up thoughts about why people commit suicide, and the feelings felt by those they leave behind. This book is suitable for scholars, teachers, professionals of all sorts, and especially those who may think twice before answering their own "Ultimate Question".

I loved the book and finger puppet
It is a fun book for babies. I especially loved the bright finger puppet which comes with it. You can act out the story with the puppet as you read it. It has become one of my baby's favorite books. I also have One Little Dragon Fly and I wish she would create some more books with the finger puppets. The pictures and content are bright and fun also.

I really loved the poetry. You really feel love in this book. One of the poems says "my husband" so it can be a gift to men also. I think this is the best book of love poetry I ever read!

The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State, in the Light of the Researches of Lewis H. Morgan
Published in Paperback by International Publishers Co (August, 1995)
Author: Friedrich Engels
Average review score:

Scientific analysis
Anthro major? You might be surprised how much and how many tools come from Engels, as in Marx and Engels of Capital fame. The same analytical tools they applied to economics (That are used every day) here are applied to anthropological study of the basis of our present day social institutions.
Relevant today, as much as for info as for seeing where the ideas discussed lead to the arguments and theories of today.

The Oxford Handbook of Criminology
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (October, 1998)
Authors: Mike Maguire, Rod Morgan, and Robert Reiner
Average review score:

A must for anyone interested in or studying criminology
A vast collection of essays on different criminological subjects that covers most things on a course of study. Will also act as a good book for reference and background reading. Although it appears pricey it does cover a lot of ground and is indeed very cost effective when compared to similar books that offer not much for a similar price. The only criticism is this - if you are wanting a feminist perspective this often comes off as lacking, although in saying this it does (by this ommission) reveal the holes in criminological research that feminists are seeking to correct. Well worth adding to your collection.

Oz-story 5
Published in Paperback by Hungry Tiger Press (September, 1999)
Authors: Eric Shanower, David Maxine, W. W. Denslow, L. Frank Baum, Mark Crilley, O. Michael, Ike Morgan, and Ruth P. Thompson
Average review score:

A very well-written book, great for Oz lovers!
This was a wonderful book. It has short stories, even cartoons, about Oz and its characters. All of these are written by famous Oz authors, such as Baum (of course), Denslow (who illustrated the original "Wizard of Oz"), Thompson, and many others. For anyone who loves Oz, or any other good read, this book is for you. P.S. I have to say, some of the stories in here seemed like they were written by Baum himself, though in fact, only 2 out of the 16 were actually written by him. If you decide to buy this book (which I recommend) read "THE EMERALD CITY OF OZ" by Walt Spouse. It's a funny comic strip about the book, The Emerald City of Oz.
